We welcome you to the website of the Association Islamic Cultural and Educational Centre Sirat (ICEC Sirat) in Nieuwegein! We would like to take the opportunity to give you some general information about our organisation and the objectives we are pursuing, on this part of the website.
Since the 1970s, the number of Islamic inhabitants in Nieuwegein has grown considerably. The Muslim residents in Nieuwegein noticed that there was a need for a common place for worship and other (educational) activities.
The lack of this led to the foundation of the association “Islamic Cultural and Educational Center Siraat” (literal translation: the bridge). Because the association also wanted to function as a bridge for all the residents of Nieuwegein and the religion of Islam the association realized the “Islamic Cultural and Educational Center Siraat” which is situated at the de Hildo Kropstraat, Nieuwegein.
