Wie zijn wij?
Islamitisch Cultureel en Educatief CentrumBack in time
Since the 1970s, the number of inhabitants in Nieuwegein with an Islamic faith has grown considerably. During the time, the Muslim inhabitants in Nieuwegein noticed that there was a need for a common place where Muslims could come together. The lack of this led to the establishment of association "Islamic Cultural and Educational Center Sirat" (literal translation: the bridge). Because the association also wanted to function as a bridge between the inhabitants of Nieuwegein and their loved ones with a building on the Hildo Kropstraat as their home port.
Not much later, the association went in search of a larger space. Because the building on the Hildo Kropstraat could not meet the various needs: think of space for daily prayer, educational, socio-cultural and social activities. It took a while but in 2010 sirat had a new home to the Professor Dr Hesselaan. The financing of this building was saved together by the volunteers at the time. The final result is a magnificent building in which we can organize religious, educational and social activities for our members.

Who are we
Islamic Cultural and Educational Centre Sirat is run by the "day-to-day Administration" consisting of 4 people. In addition to their own work, the administrative tasks are filled on a voluntary basis. The different board positions mean a lot of sacrifice of one's own free time. The motivation and satisfaction is nevertheless very high, because everyone sees it as an obligation from the faith to contribute to the well-being of the community.
The board members are all ultimately responsible for their own management part. The Board appoints committees that perform certain tasks under the responsibility of the board in order to achieve the desired final results as efficiently as possible.

Statutory objectives, the Board shall:
- To encourage and facilitate the confession of the Islamic faith;
- Providing education and educational education to children and adults;
- Maintain and operate facilities in the building;
- Organise Islamic and educational meetings;
- Promote contacts between Muslims based in Nieuwegein and non-Muslims.;
Perhaps not insignificant to mention it. But the association has to have it from the volunteers. cleaners, teachers, canteen staff, homework supervisors, drivers and much more.
